Located between the snow-capped slopes of the Pir-Panjal
and Dauladhar ranges, Manali is one of the most popular
mountain stations in the country. With stunning views, lush
green forests, sprawling meadows covered with flowers, stunning
blue streams, eternal fog lingering in the air, and the constant
scent of pine trees, Manali was blessed with extraordinary scenic
beauty. From museums to temples, small quaint hippie villages
and bustling upscale streets, river adventures and hiking trails,
Manali has every reason to be a tourist magnet all year round.
Swaying eucalyptus trees, charming little eateries, small kitsch
local markets and cafes serving delicious local cuisine at
incredible prices, Old Manali is a serene, tranquil place whose
long-standing silence is broken only by the chirping of birds and
the sound of the raging waters of the Kulu River.
Solang Valley is one of the most visited places in Manali as the
road to Solang is as scenic as the valley itself. The Solang Valley
not only offers spectacular views of the surrounding landscape,
but its slopes are also a very popular skiing destination, especially
in winter. In summer, the place turns into a paragliding paradise.
If you are an adventurer, there are activities in Solang Valley such
as zorbing and horse riding.
With more than 25 lakh visitors every year, Rohtang Pass easily
stands out as one of the most famous scenic spots to visit in Manali.
The Rotang Pass, which connects the Lahaul and Kullu valleys, is
known for nature lovers as well as photographers and adven-
ture seekers. Mountain biking or skiing whilst surrounded by the
awe-inspiring glaciers and snow-capped peaks on all sides is
an exhilarating experience.
Manali is also home to a tiny piece of history in the shape of
Naggar Castle. Naggar Castle is a stunning historic building
surrounded by breathtaking forests in the city of Naggar. Once
used as the residence of the Raja Sidha Singh in Kullu, the castle
is a wonder-ful fusion of traditional Himalayan and European archi-
tecture. With stately fireplaces, beautifully constructed staircases
and meti-culous work of wood and stone, Naggar Castle is a must-
see when
you are in Manali.
